BACK TO THE FUTURE
On Saturday, September 26th, international employees, students, start-ups and their families from across Zeeland gathered for our 4th annual event. This year’s theme “Zeeland 2050 – Back to the Future.”
It was an inspiring day dedicated to meeting one another and sharing experiences regarding working, studying, and living in our province.
Hosted by the municipality Sluis in the pittoresk town of IIzendijke, with a packed hall and 32 exhibitors who were all ready to go, sharing their contributions and looking back on a valuable day, full of connections and new contacts.
The official opening was presented by Mayor Marga Vermue of the Municipality of Sluis and King’s Commissioner Hugo de Jonge. Also present was alderman Johnny Lukasse, in his new role as ambassador for the Zeeland International Center. A role the alderman takes on with great enthusiasm. The invited guests have explained how important it is to build a strong Zeeland together, by connecting people, creating space for talent and ensuring everyone feels welcome and able to participate. Their involvement also proved to be very positive during the round of visiting the exhibitors.
Innovation, sustainability, connecting, talent for jobs, coaching your well-being, workshops for children, tasting innovative products, asking for future wishes, being well informed about housing, insurances, finance, law-and regulations, university possibilities, border information, municipal information, childcare, a platform for international migrants, every subject was presented.
A remark from an international stated: “The event was a real success, both in terms of its friendly atmosphere and the valuable connections and information it offered to someone in my position, looking to live and work in Zeeland”.
With that compliment we are happy to show the event with the after movie.
Onward to the future!
