- The collaboration with the Zeeland municipalities has been expanded with the addition of the municipalities of Reimerswaal and Noord Beveland, and as of January 1, 2026, the municipality of Tholen will also join. This emphasizes significance of Zeeland-wide collaboration regarding central information provision and support for internationals (knowledge workers, migrant workers, students) and employers. Together with the Zeeland municipalities and the Province of Zeeland, we continue our mission. Our goal remains to facilitate a smooth transition, enabling internationals to integrate more quickly and contribute to the Zeeland labor market and society.
The annual ZIC event “Zeeland International Day” took place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in the “Grote Kerk”(main church) of Goes. More than 47 different nationalities attended the event to meet and exchange knowledge with Zeeland residents and regional organizations. This day has become an important meet & greet happening for internationals and their families who live, work, or study in Zeeland to enjoy connecting with different countries and cultures. There was a lot going on during “Zeeland International Day”: the largest language café, information sessions about living, working, and integrating in Zeeland, workshops, children's activities, and a spacious information plaza where visitors could ask practical questions.
The open and accessible atmosphere facilitated easy formation of new contacts. For international students and their families, this was a valuable opportunity to expand their networks and feel even more at home in Zeeland. At the same time, partners and organizations were given the opportunity to connect with the international community, which plays a vital role in the province's economic and social development.
Looking ahead to next year – ZIC is already looking ahead to the 2026 annual event edition. Just like a journey through time, full of surprises, new ideas and possibilities that come together. But, what would you like to see? Some inspiring ideas on our wish list:
• Workshops and interactive sessions on culture, work, and personal development.
• Global music and dance performances that bring together international tradition.
• Special activities for families and children, so everyone can participate.
• Newest practical information about living, working, and studying in Zeeland.
ZIC invites everyone to share their ideas. Together, we will make next year another unforgettable edition, focusing on connection, innovation, and information. And the best part? Finally, we have established a valuable highlight which is the collaboration that includes the onboarding and a search year for international students, with HZ University of Applied Sciences, University College Roosevelt (UCR), and Scalda. National and international students are an important part of Zeeland. Collaboration opportunities, practice-oriented research, and internship opportunities; all these facts serve as links between education, research, and businesses in Zeeland, where innovation and opportunities for development are highly valued.
